Recently, NACS highlighted the latest findings from the Coca Cola Retailing Research Council (CCRRC) regarding employee engagement and retention. The newly released report, titled “Convenience Industry Action Plan for Becoming an Employer of Choice,” provides a comprehensive analysis of the challenges and potential solutions we encounter in this area.
This updated report for 2023, building upon the groundwork laid in 2016, underscores the pivotal role of effective employee engagement communications in the success of any initiative.

Some conclusions jump off the page:
• Utilizing employee-centric KPIs (and communicating them to employees effectively) can lead to greater accountability, satisfaction and results.
• the #1 recommendation is to “invest in employee safety through training, technology and analytics.”
• There is a focus on “leveraging media to improve industry perceptions”. Celebrating employees, promoting positive stories and communicating effectively with employees can lead to better retention, satisfaction and growth for store associates.
